Access To The Hills Project

Area-wide regeneration is a holistic approach aimed at improving the Upper Springfield area. It focuses on improved road infrastructure,
upgrading housing, developing new housing, enhancing public spaces, enhancing open green spaces and boosting economic opportunities.
The process involves collaboration between local governments, the community sector and the community itself. By combining social, environmental,
and economic strategies, area-wide regeneration aims to create a more sustainable, inclusive, and thriving environment.

The goal is to transform the Upper Springfield into a vibrant, resilient communities that offer better quality of life for residents through the regeneration projects.

By creating access to the hill and transforming the green space behind New Barnsley/Moyard/Springfield Park we will:

Walking Routes

Create a flat gradient/easy walking path and a more challenging walk to the Hatchet-field and Divis Mountain for those who are able.

Enhancing Biodiversity

Increase Biodiversity via the introduction of an environmental management scheme that includes reopening of the rocky dams.

Restoring Nature

Enhancing the natural environment by planting native Irish trees, flowers, shrubs and orchards. Increase in wildlife in the area via environmental management plan.
